Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" Trilogy Returning To IMAX For Limited Time

"The Dark Knight" trilogy will return to IMAX in five cities.

It's been roughly fourteen years since Christopher Nolan released Batman Begins. The film spawned two other sequels, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises which became the most critically-acclaimed Batman film franchise in history. Now, the film series will be making its return to IMAX theatres at the end of the month to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Batman's first appearance in comic books.

The Dark Knight series will be returning to IMAX starting on March 30 that the Universal Cinema AMC at CityWalk Hollywood as part of the five-city screening of the franchise. After Hollywood, the series will have its IMAX screening at AMC Lincoln Square in New York City and AMC Metreon in San Francisco on April 30th. Cinesphere Ontario Place in Toronto and the Imax Theatre at the Indiana State Museum in Indianapolis will screen the film in IMAX On April 20th. All screenings will be accompanied with footage of Nolan's Q&A in L.A.

All of the screenings will be shown in IMAX 70mm. Christopher Nolan broke new grounds with The Dark Knight after filming the action sequences in 70mm, becoming the first filmmaker to do so.

“Christopher Nolan broke new ground with the ‘Dark Knight’ trilogy, and this is a rare chance for today’s audiences to experience these extraordinary films as they were meant to be seen,” Warner Bros.’ domestic distribution president, Jeff Goldstein said. “To have the added privilege of hearing Chris’ insights firsthand makes this a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
