Well, that definitely backfired.

When Nike unveiled their special ad campaign with Colin Kaepernick, some people lost their minds. Of course, Kaepernick is a controversial figure thanks to his anthem protests that eventually got him blackballed from the NFL. In the aftermath of the campaign, some people actually decided to boycott Nike and even posted videos of themselves lighting their Nike products on fire. It was a pretty ridiculous sight to see but honestly not all that surprising. One of those boycotters was Stephen Martin who owns Prime Time Sports, a sporting goods store in Colorado Springs. Martin pulled all Nike products from his shelf and in the end, he had to close the store down, according to Sporting News.

"Being a sports store without Nike is kind of like being a milk store without milk or a gas station without gas," Martin told Colorado station KOAA News 5. "How do you do it? They have a monopoly on jerseys. As much as I hate to admit this, perhaps there are more Brandon Marshall and Colin Kaepernick supporters out there than I realized."

Now that the store is close, Martin has been tasked with trying to find his now-former employees new jobs. Just goes to show how powerful Nike truly is.
