Skins claim Foster despite off field issues.

Former San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster has officially been claimed by the Washington Redskins, according to multiple reports.

Foster, who was selected by the Niners in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, was released on Sunday after he was arrested late Saturday night at the team hotel on a charge of misdemeanor domestic violence. It remains to be seen if he'll face a suspension from the league, but if he's eligible to play he could be suiting up for the Redskins on Monday night when they take on the Philadelphia Eagles.

Foster was arrested back in April and charged with three felonies including domestic violence after his ex-girlfriend claimed he had abused her, though she later admitted to making it all up. According to ESPN, he pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor weapons charge related to the initial domestic violence allegations and was sentenced to two years' probation, 232 hours of community service and $235 in fines for the weapons charge.

He also arrested for misdemeanor marijuana possession in January in Alabama. As a result of his off the field issues, Foster was suspended for the first two games of the season for violations of the league's policies on personal conduct and substance abuse.

In total, Foster appeared in just 16 games over two seasons with the Niners since being selected 31st overall in 2017. In that time, the former Alabama linebacker had 101 tackles.
