Unfortunate news stuck the hip hop world last week when 03 Greedo revealed that he'd be heading to prison. At the time, it was thought that the rapper would be heading to jail shortly after his tweet but he clarified that he'd be doing his time after his forthcoming tour. Details pertaining to the sentence and case were scarce at the time and many were wondering why he was being sent to prison. Today, a new report has surfaced that shares what the case was about and how much time he'll be doing.
PassionWeiss.com reports that 03 Greedo has been sentenced to 20 years behind bars on guns and drugs charges from 2016. The Watts rapper's sentence stems from an arrest from 2016 where he was pulled over alongisde a friend by Potter County Sherriff deputies. They claimed to have smelled marijuana which prompted them to open up the trunk. They allegedly found four pounds of methamphetamine and two stolen firearms.
The report also says that Greedo was forced to take a plea deal on the case and was possibly facing a 300 year sentence in prison. Even with the sentencing of two decades in Texas prison, the rapper's team is hopeful that with good behavior, he'll be out in five.
The rapper took to Twitter last week to reveal that he'll be going to prison.
"Sorry i let my fans down. At least we got some great music before i left yall. I wish i coulda stayed with my family but life isnt fair to some of us. Plenty music will be released while im gone. Promise me you will love me forever," he tweeted.
According to the report, 03 Greedo has over 600 unreleased songs in the vault.
