Kanye West

Kanye West has experienced the death of ego; kill the boy, and let the man be born.

Kanye West has, by his own admission, become free. Such was the message of Ye standout "Ghost Town," in which the stadium-ready chorus celebrated freedom with the unbridled passion of a drawn-and-quartered William Wallace. The sentiment was doubled down on Kids See Ghost, during the appropriately titled "Free;" take a guess at the subject matter. Suffice it to say, a weight has been lifted off Yeezy's chest, and the world has been reaping the benefits. Yet one has to wonder, what is at the root of this liberating epiphany?

As it happens, Kanye West has taken to Twitter to elaborate on his recent mindset. Citing the self-inflicted death of ego as a chief catalyst, Yeezy reiterates that he's in a more positive space, despite feeling a bit of uncertainty. After claiming that he officially "killed his ego," he proceeds to elaborate on the fallout. "This is new for me but it’s just how I feel now. I don’t know why," he explains. "I thought my ego protected me from doubters so that I wouldn’t doubt myself but there has to be a better way to do this."

He goes on to say that Kanye West with ego is simply Ye, which seems to suggest that the project marks the the arrival of an ever newer Kanye. Does this mean that the new Kanye on "I Miss The Old Kanye" is now the old Kanye? Only time will tell. Either way, it's nice to see Yeezy moving forward with a renewed sense of purpose. We've already benefited from the results.
