21 Savage is never one to waste his words outside of the booth and given the East Atlanta rapper’s propensity to let his actions do the talking, we can’t even be mad at it.

The latest actualization of such methods came to fruition in the form of 21’s third annual ISSA Back To School Drive on Sunday (August 5th) as the emcee held true to his previous pledges to continue to give back and facilitate an environment of inspiration for the hometown community that continues to look toward the success of one in the handful of individuals to make it past the stretch of Glenwood Road, nestled in Atlanta’s Decatur community.

This year as 21 and his team set up shop on the distinguishable road, a wondrous symbiotic relationship was on full display as hundreds of young fans wrapped around a vast strip mall to catch a glimpse of 21 Savage while being gifted with backpacks filled with school supplies, new shoes courtesy of the local Shoe Carnival store, free haircuts and hairstyles, and complimentary barbecue platters. It was nothing short of a full circle moment for the rapper who often touches on his need to be the role model he never had.

Keeping it brief, 21 took in the moment telling us that, “it’s just a lot of positivity. A lot of people are coming together,” echoing the very words of the event’s master of ceremonies earlier in the day: “It just keeps getting bigger and bigger every year!”

At the top of the year, 21 Savage announced his decision to stop wearing jewelry with the intent of giving both his peers and supporters some stimulus in trading in the ice for more tangible assets such as stock investments and real estate. He then doubled down with a new financial literacy program in which he gifted 21 students with a seed of $1000 to initiate a savings account while implementing key strategies in promoting financial awareness through his Leading By Example foundation.

It’s all certainly been a pivotal moment in the narrative attached to the Saint Laurent Don. On that note, we asked whether or not such a strong message would be finding its way into his music as he currently preps his forthcoming album. “I don’t know,” he says. “I’m just creating. So, wherever it takes me is wherever it takes me. I’m just making music right now.”
