Lil Rel Howery's Comedy Series "Rel" Gets Picked Up By Fox

The actor will be heading to the small screen once again.

Lil Rel Howery's was last seen in 2017's runaway success Get Out, which saw the actor put his comedic chops to good use in the Oscar-winning project. Now, Howery will be returning to television with an upcoming sitcom titled Rel, which has been picked up by Fox. 

The series will follow its lead star as he navigates Chicago as a single father who recently endured a life-altering divorce after catching his wife fooling around with his barber. The character's name will be Lil Rel, and is inspired by actual events experienced by the comedian; Sinbad will co-star as Howery's father. 

While Rel has been picked up by Fox, they recently dropped Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Last Man on Earth, and The Mick from their programming schedule. However, the studio has since renewed 9-1-1StarThe GiftedEmpireThe ResidentThe Orville and The Simpsons

Rel has been ordered for the 2018-2019 season after its pilot episode was well-received by studio executives.
