"People used to count me out."

Prior to Sunday Night's Grammy Awards, Childish Gambino held a show at New York's Irving Plaza. On top of performing many songs from his Grammy-nominated album "Awaken, My Love!", the multi-talented artist also treated fans to some improvisation. Halfway between a vocal jam and a freestyle, Gambino went off the dome first singing and then rapping some repeated phrases over a funky guitar riff. "Your love is so hard to find," he sings," before rapping "people used to count me out," and something that sounds like "people used to talk that shit when I was at camp," possibly referencing his 2011 debut studio album Camp, which received mixed reviews.

No one seems to be counting Gambino (real name Donald Glover) out these days. He won an Emmy for his critically acclaimed FX show Atlanta last year, and could very well walk away with a Grammy or two tonight. If that works out, he's halfway towards the coveted EGOT status.

Last year, Glover hinted that he may be retiring Childish Gambino after his next project. "I'll see you for the last Gambino album," he told a shocked crowd following his performance at Governor's ball.

Gambino will also be performing at tonight's Grammy Awards. You can follow along with our live updates on tonight's winners here.
