Lil Uzi Vert's tentative album cover was inspired by "Heaven's Gate," an old religious cult that had 39 people commit suicide in the 90's.

Well it finally looks like we’re close to hearing Lil Uzi Vert’s long awaited new album Eternal Atake. On Tuesday, the Philly rockstar shared the project’s tentative cover art on Instagram, which to most of us isn’t much other than an outer-space design, but it turns out it’s much more than that. DJ Akademiks found out that the cover is inspired by the logo for “heavens gate,” a religious cult where 39 people committed suicide back in 1997.

According to the religious cult’s wiki page, “‘Heaven's Gate’ was an American UFO religious millenarian cult based in San Diego, California, founded in 1974 and led by Marshall Applewhite and Bonnie Nettles. On March 26, 1997, police discovered the bodies of 39 members of the group, who had participated in a mass suicide in order to reach what they believed was an extraterrestrial spacecraft following Comet Hale–Bopp.” The artwork is pretty much the same for both, with the written passage at the bottom and intergalactic shot of Earth & the stars, while a similar font & title acting like a cross word is displayed in the middle.

Why Uzi has the infatuation with the religious cult is completely unknown as we’re just solving this news today, but it’s pretty creepy to say the least. This comes just weeks after Uzi told fans at his concert they had “entered the rapture” and they were all going to hell with him, adding to his dark and sadistic mindset recently.
