Kawhi remains in NY, not expected to suit up again this season.

San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard is expected to miss the remainder of the season as he continues to rehab in New York with his personal team, while his Spurs teammates face the defending champion Golden State Warriors.

According to Yahoo Sports' Shams Charania, Leonard has not yet been cleared by his doctors' and despite making strides recently in training, he will not be back on the court at any point this season. Kawhi missed the first 27 games of the season and returned with a minutes restriction on December 12, but has not played since January 13.

When asked on Sunday whether he expected Leonard to rejoin the team at some point during the postseason, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich instructed reporters to "ask Kawhi and his group."

"You'll have to ask Kawhi and his group that question," Popovich said, according to ESPN. "So far, they say that he's not ready to go. So we can't do anything until that happens. Then, we would have to decide what's going on from there. But that's the first thing that has to happen."

In the nine games he played in this season, Leonard averaged 16.2 points and 4.7 rebounds in a little over 23 minutes per game. The Spurs lost Game 1 to the Warriors on Saturday afternoon by the final of 113-92. The two teams will return to the court tonight for Game 2.
