The U.S. Women's hockey team won the gold medal for the first time since 1998 last night, defeating Team Canada 3-2 in a thrilling shootout.
After overtime concluded with the two rivals tied 2-2, U.S.A's Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson deked Canadian goaltender Shannon Szabados right out of her skates for what would be the game-winner. Following Lamoureux-Davidson's epic goal, U.S.A's Maddie Rooney stoned Meghan Agosta on the ensuing shot to secure the gold.
Speaking about her winning save in the shootout, Rooney told the Today Show, "I kind of was just looking over at the bench (during the shootout) and seeing all of them pointing at me and just saying, 'One more,' and we're gold medalists. It was totally a blur. That celebration, everyone just sprinting at me, it was an indescribable feeling."

Not only did the U.S women's hockey team win their first Olympic gold medal in 20 years, but they also prevented Team Canada from winning their fifth straight gold medal. Canada's Jocelyne Larocque refused to wear her silver medal following the devastating loss.
