Papoose has been dealing with attacks on all sides, and so have his opponents. Whether it's his lyrical battle with Eazy The Block Captain, the enduring breakup with Remy Ma, or criticisms of his relationship with Claressa Shields, he's trying to stay afloat and clap back at the narratives against him. The next step was to clap back at Eazy with the new diss track "Handshakes With Snakes."
Over a dramatic and fast-paced instrumental, Pap tears into The Block Captain's romance with Pap's ex Remy, dismisses his Philly credibility, takes shots at his lyrical ability, and does a whole lot more to try to gain the upper hand. The bars are solid and there are some great punchlines here, but we doubt it will move the needle when it comes to people picking sides in this conflict.
Eazy The Block Captain just dissed Papoose on his "Letter To Claressa" track, in which he urged the female boxer to leave the New York rapper behind. It's been curious to see romantic gossip devolve into diss tracks about many more topics, but folks are still going to focus on the drama rather than the bars.
Both MCs should feel quite proud of what they've done, even if the subject matter at hand will always be messy and irrelevant to many fans. We'll see if these trades continue or if "Handshakes With Snakes" is what makes the booth's dust settle.
Remy Ma & Papoose Beef
Throughout all of this, Remy Ma is making her own stance clear. For those unaware, all of this popped off a few years ago when she was accused of cheating on Papoose with Eazy The Block Captain. Remy and Pap called it quits and continue to work out their divorce, whereas the latter's romance with Claressa Shields also caused drama.
Regarding Remy, she dropped the Alimony EP to address some of these narratives, and Shields has been doing a lot of responding on social media. Now, though, all the different sides of the situation are leaning into their specific niches.
In this sense, Pap and Eazy might go at each other for much longer, even if they aren't arguing about the initial drama anymore. But that's what's keeping fans coming back.
