Lakeith, on the other hand, is a bit of a creative juggernaut whose talent knows no bounds, be it music, film, television or whatever he puts his mind to. In any case, it wasn't hard for the two creative types to find common ground in their conversation - especially when they spoke of the misanthropy they developed after spending time in Los Angeles.
The most interest bit in the conversation centered around the politics behind Noname's decision to remain an independent artist. After the Chicago-bred rapper insists upon the viability of the "independent route" and how it adequately feeds her family and puts clothes on her back, Lakeith then asked her to elaborate on her decision. She replied, "I don’t want my music to be owned by white entities—that’s mainly why I’m independent. I just don’t think we need it," - after which she stressed the importance of grassroots culture.
