Today we get a few details on the circumstances surrounding the death of A$AP Yams, however, there is still no cause of death as of yet.

Over the weekend, much of the hip-hop community was shocked to hear that one of the founding members of the New York collective A$AP Mob had passed away. The reason for A$AM Yams', real name Steven Rodriguez, death was unknown, although rumors said it was drug overdose. A$AP Mob members and affiliates quickly shut those rumors down. Now, several days removed from his unfortunate passing, and we still don't know the cause of Yams' death, and neither do the police.

The Fader spoke to the NYPD press relations office and found out a few new details concerning Yams' passing. They report that Yams' roommate called 911 after finding Yams unresponsive on Sunday morning. A report filed in Brooklyn's 90th precinct says that the roommate found Yams laying down unconscious, with no visible signs of trauma, and he was later transported to Brooklyn's Woodhull Medical Center.

A spokesperson for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner Office in NYC told The Fader that "following the examination, the cause and manner of death are pending further studies."

As we reported on the other day, Joey Fatts, an affiliate of the Mob, insinuated that the cause of Yams' death could be related to "severe sleep apnea" but this has not been confirmed.

We'll update you if any new details arise.
