He didn't understand the severity of the situation.

An outpour of support for Pete Davidson flurried across the web yesterday. The comedian had shared an alarming message to social media with seemingly suicidal remarks. Since then, Michael Rapaport has come through to apologize about some of the jokes he made amid Davidson's angsty display.

After Kanye West started his Twitter feuds with Drake and Ariana Grande, Michael jumped in the mix to mock both Yeezy and Pete. He made a video of his best impression of them crying over Ari and Drake.

“Pete Davidson & KANYE must really not have Homeboys for real,” Rapaport wrote. “These are 2 whinny [sic] ass bitching ass social media Babies.”

According to the following tweet, Rapaport was making a joke without proper context-- questionable considering how vocal both entertainers have been about their mental health issues. While the conversations both Pete and Kanye have offered about their personal struggles may have helped destigmatize mental health conditions, the way in which the matter is discussed might be part of what caused the misguided comedy. He later tweeted his sorry:

“Didn’t realize Pete Davidson posted an actual genuinely scary IG note,” he admitted. “Had no clue. Was not informed of all of those details. Would never mock someone when they’re truly down. Sincerely. I thought this was all the daily normal gossip of the day & was doing my daily take.”
