    Trouble Again
M.I.A. dropped her new album "Matangi" last month, and she returned to the project this week with a rework for of one of the album tracks, "Double Trouble," now "Trouble Again." This has M.I.A.'s signature weirdness all over it, with a slightly more electronic beat than the original. Cop "Matangi" on iTunes if you haven't already.
  • CanSeeCanDo
    CanSeeCanDo
M.I.A. has had a weird career arc. After reaching the peak of critical consensus with Arular and Kala, a NYT takedown piece and her difficult third album, Maya, caused an unfair stumble in her ascendance, but it made her return with "Bad Girls," one of the best songs and videos of the decade thus far, all the more triumphant.

    Gold
While it was a mixtape that initially launched her career, M.I.A. is very much an album-oriented artist at this point (though she did release the free project Vicki Leekx in 2010, which saw the first appearance of hit single, "Bad Girls"). Today, however, we're graced with a brand new track on The Partysquad Summer Mixtape compilation. Flawless (Remix)
After performing on Seth Myers’ late night show last week, MIA is back today with a new song for her fans. That being a remix of Beyoncé's song, "Flawless," with Party Squad handling the production. The remix is titled "Baddygirl" and is full of intense energy, as M.I.A. provides her own flavor to the song and concept. It appears though that M.I.A. has been sitting on this remix for a few months now, as she tweeted, “Beyonce camp has not replied for months > SO HERE >,” Hence why this release comes out of nowhere.

  • The New International Sound (Pt. II)
The New International Sound (Pt. II)
GENER8ION is an electronic act helmed by French producer Surkin, and though there's little info. on the inspiration behind the project, this new collab with M.I.A., "The New International Sound (Pt. II)," is a good introduction to their forward-thinking sound.  The track engulfs you with a gritty, industrial sound, and the adrenaline runs throughout as M.I.A.'s voice collides with escalating synths and pummeling bass.  "The New International Sound (Pt. II)" will be available on iTunes tomorrow and the EP of the same name will be out June 15.
