Kelis first showed up singing background on Neptunes beats (you may remember her from ODB's Got Your Money"), before releasing her very strong debut, Kaleidoscope in 1999.
She experienced staggered success throughout her subsequent releases, peaking with her certified smash, "Milkshake", also written by the Neptunes, and rumored to have been offered to Britney Spears first.
With her upcoming project, Food, rather than taking advantage of Pharrell's second wind, Kelis will be teaming up with TV On The Radio's producer, Dave Sitek.
Sitek will provide the instrumentals for all 13 tracks on the album, including "Rumble", which is a relatively stripped down affair, built off of live keys and horns, rather than the singer's usual synth-driven tracks.
Food is due out April 22nd.
No we don't need therapy
What I need is you to leave
And even if I know I'm rigt
Just like some lapse in my memory
Your back to me, hand on the door
I wanna yell 'Baby, Don't Go"
