The rising producer and rapper was interviewed during SXSW.

Hit-Boy's Hits Since 87 label is an Interscope Records imprint and consists of fellow rapper and producer K. Roosevelt and the Audio Push duo (rapper Oktane and rapper/producer Pricetag). Hit claims there's a "real creative force" when they're all in the same room.

"I wanted to make a label that the young guys like myself, that have dreams - they can just get 'em out, you know what I'm saying?" he stated during an interview with Fuse at this year's South By Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas.

He's known Oktane and Pricetag for more than a decade. Having lived in the same same neighbourhood when they were teenagers, they started collaborating at a young age and came up together. Hit actually recommended the two become a duo.

Like Hit-Boy, K. Roosevelt is a producer first, and the former reached out to him after hearing and being impressed by his instrumentals and songs. "We just got in and we vibed, and it just made sense to do the deal and just really create" says Hit.

How're we feeling about the team so far? Peep the interview in question below, as well as the first HS87 project in its entirety:
