There's a new leader in the Instagram clubhouse, for now. International football (soccer) superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has surpassed Selena Gomez as the most-followed person on the 'gram.
The numbers are constantly changing but at last count Cristiano had reached 144,332,498 followers, roughly 14,000 more than Gomez and her 144,318,439 followers.
Gomez recently announced that she was taking a break from social media to seek treatment for her mental health, and has stayed off instagram ever since. Her last post, which came on September 23 and has over 8.2 million likes, reads, "Update: taking a social media break. Again. As much as I am grateful for the voice that social media gives each of us, I am equally grateful to be able to step back and live my life present to the moment I have been given. Kindness and encouragement only for a bit! Just remember- negative comments can hurt anybody’s feelings."
