BeatKing's new album was conceptualized as another in installment in the Club God series, but when it began to take a much different shape than the rapper's usual strip-club-centered outings, it was re-titled 3 Weeks, a reference to how long it took for the whole project to come together.
In the end it came out a little bit like the sobering comedown from Houston 3AM, both more focused and more reflective than its predecessor. "4 AM" is the album's centerpiece, and finds Beatking sharing some of his most personal lyrics to date, musing on his mother's death and friends lost on the path to fame -- but sure enough, it still BANGS. 3 Weeks, BeatKing's first release through Penalty Entertainment, is out this Friday, October 30th.
