Best Rapper Ad-Libs Currently In The Game

When used properly, ad-libs can really accelerate the popularity of an artist. Just ask Big Sean or 2 Chainz. These between-the-lines phrases are designed to hype up listeners, adding extra energy to their verses. Ad-libs tend to be funny, serious, or flat-out ridiculous. Recently, acts like Migos have taken ad-libs to the next level. While some rapper ad-libs can be annoying, there are those who've properly honed the ad-lib craft, and the result is usually entertaining. Ad-libs can also function as a tag or trademark for rappers-- the instant you hear one, you know who's on the track.

It looks like Push may be the person to get the two beatmakers in the studio once again, with the announcement that he will be working with the duo on his upcoming album King Push.

Pusha T has always valued his street cred. From the early days of Clipse, Malice and Push's primary topic was always their drug-dealing pasts, and unlike his brother, Pusha has maintained that approach. In fact, the Virginia rapper has been more vocal than ever in targeting peers he sees as less-than-genuine, something he elaborated on in a recent interview with Noisey.

Nothing too big transpired on the charts this week when it comes to hip-hop. That's not to say there weren't hip-hop releases-- there most definitely were, however, none could top Drake's Nothing Was The Same at #4 on the Billboard 200. And if DJ Khaled's low sales projections are correct, Khaled probably won't top Drizzy either next week.

This week everyone's favorite dope boy Pusha T finally made his Charts debut, with My Name Is My Name. The album, which has been praised highly by most, managed a #4 debut, selling on the lower-end of the projected amount, with 75k. While it's solid numbers for a rapper who's been in the underground for most of his career, what does it say about those supporting 'real rap'? That there aren't that many?

The projections have arrived for Pusha T's new album My Name Is My Name. Pusha estimated in a previous interview he'd do 100k, although he said he wouldn't be disappointed if he did less-- which is a good thing 'cause it looks like he won't quite reach 100,000. Pusha T's album is on course to sell 75-80k opening week, which hopefully will get him a spot in the top 10 of the Billboard 200. Danny Brown's Old dropped the same day as Pusha, but we don't have projections for that LP yet.

Although he’s been in the rap game since the early '90s, Pusha T had yet to release a studio solo album. Until now. As one-half of the Clipse with his brother (now) No Malice, Push saw his popularity rise with their hit single “Grindin.”  Three albums and 16 years later, Push, real name Terrence Thornton and his brother parted ways musically to work on their solo careers.
