The title of best female rapper is a buzz term that gets thrown around a lot, and is often hotly contested. Several female emcees have been vying for the title. A rivalry of sorts has began between Iggy Azalea, and Azealia Banks with people choosing sides between the dualing female artists. Kreayshawn has a large internet following, and Honey Cocaine is receiving notoriety for her guest appearances. Recently, in an interview with VladTV (hat tip to HipHopDX), Wiz Khalifa officially announced his pick for best female rapper is Lola Monroe.
Taylor Gang's front man believes that Lola's story is what makes her unique, and poised to sit atop the thrown as the Queen in the rap game. Monroe is originally from Ethiopia, but was raised in Washington D.C., and while other rappers from the D.C. area have risen in prominence, she is the first female emcee to talk about the struggles of coming up there.
Khalifa had this to say, "Lola Monroe, she's the First Lady of Taylor Gang, she's the only chick that raps in Taylor Gang...She’s iller than any female artist I’ve ever heard in my life. She’s so much better than any female…just her lyrical ability. I know a lot of people say that shit, but she's from D.C., and nobody's heard that story before...from a female. You've heard all these other stories and all this other shit, but you have heard her's yet, so I feel she's different, she's better."
