Fans Pay Tribute On 11th Anniversary Of Heath Ledger's Death

This morning the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released the list of nominations for their annual awards, the Oscars. Today is also the 11th anniversary of Heath Ledger's death, in 2008, a year before the his win for Best Supporting Actor as the Joker in The Dark Knight.

His turn as the Joker, which many cite as the undoing of Ledger, the role that pushed him over the edge after years in the spotlight, has gone down as iconic (although for some reason Jared Leto and Joaquin Phoenix are still trying to play the same character). When he won the posthumous Oscar for the role, back in 2009, his parents and his sister went up to accept it for him and delivered a concise speech:
