Dwayne Johnson was reportedly going to be busy shooting the sequel to "Jumanji" and had to pass.

Despite all the drama surrounding Kevin Hart and his hosting of the Oscars this year, The Rock says he was the Academy’s first choice to host this year. The 46-year old actor said he tried to make it work, but prior commitments got in the way, like shooting the upcoming sequel to Jumanji.

"I was their first choice to host this year, and my goal was to make it the most fun and entertaining Oscars ever," Johnson responded to a tweet. "We all tried hard, but couldn’t make it work since I’m shooting Jumanji. Academy and I were super bummed but maybe one day down the road,” he added.

Some people on Twitter think The Rock could be just trolling Hart here, considering the two often like to roast each other in some friendly banter, but this seems kinda genuine if you ask me.

The 91st Academy Awards, which will be hostless now following Kevin Hart’s decision to step down, will take place on Sun, Feb 24 at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Set your DVR’s now.

Do you think The Rock is telling the truth here or trying to troll Hart?
