PREMIERE: The Mekanix debut their new single "Abandonment" feat. Mozzy and Philthy Rich.

Production duo The Mekanix has proudly served the Bay Area for more than 15 years. They are curently gearing up for the release of their album Under the Hood on June 3rd. Today, they debut their new single "Abandonment" in an HNHH premiere.

"Abandonment" features soulful, chipmunk'd vocals, delicate piano, thumping bass, and guest appearances from Philthy Rich and Mozzy, for whom The Mekanix are producing an entire album.

If you know Mozzy, then you know he says stuff, 'I like them cry-baby beats’ which means that it's emotional beat, something that makes you feel a certain way; it’s not directed to the club or party track," The Mekanix told HNHH via email. "It’s a beat that reflects struggle. On the song, he and Philthy are talking about ,'The streets is where I’m from, I could never abandon them. And then sometimes you got people who show you a side you’ve never seen before and it forces you to abandon them.’”

Give "Abandonment" a listen and pre-order Under the Hood on iTunes.

Quotable Lyrics

If it ain't 50 bands plus, then it not a sting
I got narcs,  couple xans, what you tryna eat
Got him going deep for that loud pack
He says it's all there, but I don't trust him, gotta count that
