Spalding will release the $125 basketball this Friday, April 12.
This Saturday, April 13, marks the three-year anniversary of Kobe Bryant's last game in the NBA, in which he dropped 60 points on the Utah Jazz in front of a sold out crowd at Staples Center.
Nike has since dubbed 4/13 "Mamba Day," and the date serves as an annual celebration of the Kobe's Hall of Fame career. Ahead of Mamba Day 2019, Spalding will be releasing a limited edition basketball in honor of the Black Mamba.
Dubbed the Kobe Bryant 24K Basketball, the rock is made from a Mamba snakeskin embossed composite cover. It comes house in a special edition Kobe Bryant 94 Series display box and is the official size and weight of the balls used in the NBA.
“The Mamba Mentality is what defined me throughout my career,” says Bryant. “Spalding understands that product quality is a big part of that mentality.”
The Kobe Bryant 24K Basketball, priced at $125, will be available for Spalding MVP members on the company’s website on Friday morning. The ball will then go on sale via Dick's Sporting Goods' online shop at 1pm ET.
