Smokepurpp and producer Murda Beatz have cooked up an entire body of work together, and for the past week or so, they've been teasing the collaborative tape's first drop, a single titled "123." Although they've been promoting a Friday release, they've decided to drop it a day early on Soundcloud so all ears are free to listen, worldwide. Shout out to that.
The song's production is definitely a highlight (it is Murda Beatz after all), with Murda creating a lean-like soundscape; the constant, elongated flute sound seems to embody the idea of lean's slow drip. Meanwhile, Purpp delivers a relatively simple rhyme scheme, with a punctuated flow. Sidenote: did Purpp actually quit drugs in 2k18? If this song is an accurate depiction of his life right now, that answer would be a resounding no.
