Jordan Brand is releasing an alternate version of the orange and black "Shattered Backboard" Air Jordan 1 tomorrow, October 8th, which will be also joined by the release of this new "Shattered Backboard" Air Jordan 31.
Both kicks are inspired by the orange and black jersey that Michael Jordan wore during an exhibition game in Italy in which he threw down a dunk that broke the backboard.
“Glass was everywhere. The backboard exploded. I’m looking at his eyes, his ears…looking for little bits of glass,” remembers Howard White, VP of Jordan Brand. “In the moment, it was wild. It was a little scary, because we didn’t know where the glass was going. They were playing and then there was that moment. I don’t know of any moment where one can detect something otherworldly has happened, but that one has become something grand. For MJ, though, it was just a moment in the game.”
While the Air Jordan 31 does feature the same color scheme as the aforementioned Air Jordan 1s, it differs in that it is grounded by a timeless gum outsole.
If you're digging the Halloween flavored Air Jordan 31, cop a pair tomorrow, October 8th for the retail price of $185. The "Shattered Away" Air Jordan 1 will retail for $160.
