As of late, Rockie Fresh's music has been taking on a baroque character that somewhat resembles the Graduation-era work of another Chicago rapper. Following the lush, piano-led "Hesitate," Rockie's shared "I Need," a Peezy-produced track that makes use of similarly-styled strings.
Sampling Maverick Sabre's track of the same name, "I Need" blends space-age sounds with Sabre's down-to-earth vocals and Fresh's equally everyman-ish raps. This cocktail of forward-thinking production and pathos is uncommon in young rappers, let alone ones signed to Maybach Music Group, and thusly Fresh is really making a great case for his next project (due out in early 2015) with these two new tracks.
