Former UNC Tar Heels star, and recent #1 pick in the Big3 Draft, Rashad McCants was once a promising NBA prospect, having been selected 14th overall by the Timberwolves in the 2005 draft, but things fell apart after a few years in the league.
McCants, who averaged 10 points per game in Minnesota, was traded to Sacramento in the 2008-09 season and never played in the NBA again.
According to him, part of the reason he's not a $60-70 million player is because of his relationship with Khloe Kardashian.
“I’ve been told, numerous conversations and numerous sources, that I’ve been blackballed,” McCants said. “And it’s just the way the league is sometimes. When one person who is a higher-up, Hall of Famer, says don’t touch him, they won’t. And that’s just how it is.”
"But McCants’ biggest regret was his highly-publicized relationship with reality TV star Khloe Kardashian late in his career, which he said gave people an opportunity to doubt his commitment to the NBA."
“Without that situation in play, I’m a $60-70 million player,” McCants said. “Easily.”
In 2014, McCants made headlines when he alleged that UNC kept him eligible through fake classes and minimal attendance, and that coach Roy Williams was aware of it all. Williams has always denied these allegations and now McCants has no connection at all to the University.
Still, Rashad is looking forward to the start of the Big3 season where he'll be teaming up with Kenyon Martin, Al Harrington, James White and Dion Glover on team Trilogy.
“At 32 years old, with seven years being unacknowledged at all, it’s not gonna be my fight to get back to a place that doesn’t want me,” he said. “To be picked No. 1 in the BIG3, it feels like home.”
