The Phoenix Suns have slim pickings at guard outside of Dev Booker.

The Phoenix Suns swung and missed on several trade targets this offseason, according to a report from trusted insider John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7. The radio pundit claims that the Suns' front office has "definitely been trying to trade for a front-tier point guard." The three names they reported failed to woo are Portland's Damian Lillard, Boston's Terry Rozier, and Charlotte's Kemba Walker. The details of their failed bids come in the wake Phoenix's acquisition of Ryan Anderson and De'Anthony Melton from Houston in exchange for Brandon Knight and Marquese Chriss.

Brandon Knight's departure leaves the with Shaquille Harrison and rookie Elie Okobo as the sole backup options for combo guard Dev Booker. As it stands one might be thrust into a starting role, likely the rook. The other option is to play Josh Jackson out of position, but that could hinder his development at his preferred position.

Kemba Walker's availability is still being questioned even though he has reiterated his desire to stay in Charlotte. Terry Rozier is valuable chip in Boston's rotation, but some think he's grown too pricey for the team long term. Damian Lillard on the other hand, is not a simple add. To acquire his services, Portland would be looking for a suitable franchise cornerstone in return.
