Pharrell Williams attends American Express announces Pharrell Williams as the Creative Director of the Platinum Card in 2017 at American Express on December 15, 2016 in New York City.

Pharrell stays getting those corporate dollars.

Pharrell Williams quietly had himself a very successful 2016. Produced and composed most of the soundtrack to the movie “Hidden Figures,” created a whole line of NMD sneakers with Adidas and became the co-owner of denim brand G-Star. He’s tacking one more thing onto that list before 2016 ends by becoming Creative Director of American Express’ Platinum Card.

If it seems weird to be a creative director of a credit card, you aren’t wrong. However because the Platinum Card is reserved for premium Amex members, Pharrell was selected because of “his creative vision and style to inspire and guide the global experiences and events and to inspire new cutting-edge collaborations and partnerships that meet the needs of the ever-changing premium consumer lifestyle.” Sounds like Pharrell will help provide added-value cultural experiences to Amex’s biggest spenders.

Pharrell responded to the appointment by saying, “I’m excited to be partnering with such a globally respected brand as American Express to inspire new innovative and creative premium experiences and work together to enhances the future of the Platinum Card.” Get that money, Skateboard P.
