The hype trail began last month for Nef the Pharaoh went he dropped a postdated project with Grape St. vet 03 Greedo. But we knew all along Porter 2 Grape was a keep busy tape while we awaited the release of The Big Chang Theory, slated for August 10. The story with Nef's stunted progress became the age old gripe music critics associated with regional acts. But none among them thought for a second that Nef the Pharaoh is barely 22 years old and only just beginning.
On the other hand you've got Cuban Doll who just recently filmed her video for "Bankrupt" in a roughshod grocery store. On "86" she and her cohort, ALLBLACK included formed a triangulation of young underlooked germs. Although the subject matter veers into miscellania at times, Nef did tell Complex the song is based around a true event: "I made the song after they 86 me out the Cromwell in Vegas lol so it's a true story."
