The longest song on the Internet's new album, Hive Mind, is called "Next Time/Humble Pie." The two parter begins wit h Syd describing her ambivalence in a party scene, where she wants to approach a woman with a "momental face" but she's too nervous, her "heart racing," to do anything and so she regrets it, lamenting, "shoulda met you when I had the chance." She describes the back-and-forth process as she weighs it in her head: "energy wasted/But what do I say if I see hesitation?/But what do I do if she walks away?" She eventually comes to the conclusion that, next time, she'll "just start by saying hi."

The second half of the song could be read as the fall-out of that regret, with Syd dreaming ("Humble Pie" sounds dreamy, muddy and slow) about how the woman at the party needs "real love." Listen to the song below and the whole album here.

Quotable Lyrics

I've been clockin' in
Night and day (Night and day)
It's working out for me
And you wonder why
No, you ain't hungry yet
Me, I got a plate (got a plate)
But I don't want a piece of your humble pie (humble pie)
