Leon Bridges is still the purveyor of modern soul.

The revivalist fashion of Leon Bridges is the work of a man with a special set of values and perhaps a unique vision of the world. The world of anachronism is a singular place. On Bridge's Good Times, he gives soul music the progressive touch it deserves, as do many other musical genres left unkempt.

Songs like "Bet Ain't Worth the Hand" incorporate a cluster of strings, harps and even the glockenspiel. The unique arrangement of each instrument is what makes this analog effort worth the listen, if only as a break from the reigning sound. That doesn't limit Bridges' attempts at bridging his love for a dwindling art form with the imagined future of the sound. Make no mistake about it, Leon Bridge is not a Neo-Soul artist beckoning for that sort of attention or treatment. Songs like  "If It Feels Good, It Must Be" are a product of that intervention.
