In 2002, Sports Illustrated ran a magazine cover featuring a then-high school junior LeBron James, along with the title "Chosen 1." The cover of that SI magazine would later serve as inspiration for one of LeBron's most iconic tattoos that stretches across his back from shoulder to shoulder.
On the eve of the NBA Finals last night, Nike debuted their latest ad which depicts a young LeBron going into a tattoo shop and requesting that back piece. As the Nike tagline reads, "It’s one thing to put words on your back. It’s another thing to live up to them."
LeBron and the Cavs will take on the defending champion Golden State Warriors in Game 1 of the NBA Finals tonight at 9pm ET.
