"Lonzo is not forced to wear any brand."

Lonzo Ball took the court for last night's Summer League game against the Sixers wearing the "Purple Dust" Nike Kobe A.D., a move which he brushed off after the game saying he was just feeling the "Mamba mentality."

Lonzo ditching his Big Baller Brand ZO2 Prime in favor of the purple Nikes became an even bigger deal after he went TF off on Philly, scoring 36 points with 11 assists, 8 rebounds, 5 steals and 2 blocks in the 103-102 victory.

The question now is, will Lonzo continue to stick with the Kobes or go back to his $495 BBB shoes.

According to ESPN's Darren Rovell, Lonzo's father LaVar responded to a text asking for comment about his son's decision to wear Nikes last night.

"Lonzo is not forced to wear any brand and can play in any shoe he wants as long as it's OK with the NBA. This is what being independent is all about."

Lonzo told SportsCenter after the game,

"At BBB [Big Baller Brand], you can play in what you want," Lonzo Ball said. "I already played in both of my shoes, might as well get the 'Mamba Mentality' going. Put 'em on, and it worked out tonight."

The Lakers' next Summer League game is tonight against Cleveland. If you're interested in checking out some summer hoops, or to see what Lonzo has on his feet, you can catch the game on ESPN2 at 10:30 EST.
