With MTV's complete list of the "Hottest MCs" revealed, there is definitely room for debate. However, the general consensus is that the #1 hottest MC in the game is, perhaps unsurprisingly, Kendrick Lamar.

As Dr. Dre's artist, K. Dot had a hugely successful year. His debut album good kid, m.A.A.d city was released to rave reviews. Sway Calloway broke the news to the MC that he was crowned #1 by MTV, and his response was, humbly enough, "That's craaaaaazy."

Kendrick explained his shock at the news, "You know what's crazy, we were looking at the years of the different MCs, and we were always like, 'Man, we gotta get on there. We gotta at least get on the list.' But to make it #1, that's a whole 'nother thing," He added, "Feel good!"

During the episode of MTV Jams, Kendrick also spoke on his album, the success of which helped him achieve the #1 status.  "I would have to say this project probably been in the works [since] the moment I turned 13," K. Dot said. "It wasn't a six-month process; really a whole life experience. And that's what really made this album: All my mistakes, all my thoughts, all my ideas of being a dreamer, all my homeboys' faults, all the scoldings that my father used to give me. All that made up this album."

Previously, Kendrick spoke on why he felt this list is important for hip-hop, as it keeps the competitive spirit alive.
