Although she has yet to release a solo project, Jean Deaux has had quite a big year. She appeared on not one, but two of the best received indie-minded mixtapes of the year, Mick Jenkins' The Water[s] and Isaiah Rashad's Cilvia Demo, and is now gearing up to release her debut tape. "Motel 6," a track that will appear on the release, gets a video today.
Produced by Van Rivers, the track is a minimal, aqueous construction, pairing Deaux's naked-sounding vocals with watery synths and a barely-there beat.
Soular System, as Deaux's debut is titled, is scheduled to arrive before the end of 2014.
