Watch Common sit down with Jeff Staple and give fans a history lesson on some of his classic records.

Coming fresh off the release of his new album, Nobody’s Smiling, Common is doing his usual promo runs and making his rounds with various publications. While out in NYC, Com Sense sat down for a “1-2-1″ conversation with fashion designer Jeff Staple and the two looked back on a few classic records Common recorded as a youngin’ (like “I Used to Love H.E.R.” and “It’s Your World.”).

Common also talked about how the violence in Chicago inspired his new album, and how working with Kanye West made him a better artist.

Watch the interview above, and if you haven’t copped his new album Nobody's Smiling yet, then do so here.
