Cam with another early exit.

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton abruptly ended a press conference yesterday after a question about the offense's ability to consistently get yardage in "big chunks." Following the question, Cam rolled his eyes, said, "next question," and then walked away from the podium before another reporter could speak up.

Cam has had a history of issues with the media but the Carolina Panthers don't seem too concerned with the latest incident. According to ESPN's David Newton, Panthers spokesman Steven Drummond said in a statement, "Cam didn't intend to be discourteous toward any specific media member. In his mind, after answering questions for nine minutes he had fulfilled his obligations."

It's not the first time Newton has walked out of a press conference - his most publicized early exit followed the Panthers' 24-10 loss to the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50.

Cam's most recent media adventure comes just a week after he did not fulfill his weekly media obligations and speak on Wednesday or Thursday, according to ESPN

A few weeks ago Jordan Rodrigue, a reporter for the Charlotte Observer, asked Cam about wide receiver Devin Funchess' routes. Cam responded to the question by saying, “It’s funny to hear a female talk about routes.”

The Panthers QB received plenty of backlash for his comments about Rodrigue and even lost a sponsorship as a result. He has since apologized, saying,

"After careful thought, I understand that my word choice was extremely degrading and disrespectful to women," he said. "And to be honest, that was not my intention. If you are a person who took offense to what I said, I sincerely apologize to you."

"I'm a man who tries to be a positive role model to my community and tries to use my platform to inspire others. I take ownership to everything that comes with that. What I did was extremely unacceptable."

Cam and the Panthers, 4-3, will take on the Buccaneers in Tampa Bay this Sunday.
