Several NBA teams across the league will be celebrating anniversaries this year. For instance, franchises like the Charlotte Hornets and Orlando Magic will celebrate their 30th anniversary next season by wearing classic throwback uniforms and playing on special edition courts in select home games.

Last night, the Atlanta Hawks announced similar plans to honor the franchise's 50th anniversary. According to a press release, "in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the club’s move to Atlanta from St. Louis, the Hawks will wear the first jersey they wore in Atlanta this season – a powder blue and red-trimmed uniform that was worn most famously by Lou Hudson for just one season in 1968."

In addition to the new threads, the Hawks will also play on a specially designed court for nine home games during the 2018-19 season.

“This upcoming season, our 50th year in Atlanta, is a unique opportunity to honor our history while continuing to reimagine how we engage and entertain our fans not only at our transformed Arena but virtually through media and gaming,” Hawks CEO Steve Koonin said. “Our fans, their interests and consumption continue to evolve, and we are committed to engaging them in innovative ways.”

Along with those announcements for the 2018-19 NBA season, the Atlanta Hawks have also been named as one of four franchises that will be participating in the NBA 2K League's second season. The Hawks, along with the Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves, will bring the total number of teams in the 2K League to 21.
