2014 has seen some unprecedented successes for Philly native Asaad: pairing up with Ab-Soul for the heady "Alejandro Jodorowsky Flow," dropping his Flowers II project, and embarking on the "These Days" tour with Soulo. Now, the spitter has shared a new solo track entitled "Blue Note Entendre."
Befitting the title's reference to classic jazz label Blue Note, the track's instrumental is composed of sultry keys and a muted horn lick, all hanging behind a low-key, but impactful, looping beat. Asaad, or as he describes himself on the track, "the young beast from the heart of the East," shines as he raps.
This is taken from his upcoming Concrete Skulls project.
Godly sorta, crushin' on a Cosby daughter
North nigga, so you know I had some odds against me
Prominently I shine, bein' smart ain't a crime
Be on fire, and be sparkin' some lines
