Schroder has been released on bail.

Atlanta Hawks point guard Dennis Schroder was reportedly arrested in Atlanta early Friday morning on suspicion of battery, a misdemeanor, according to reports.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Schroder, 24, was released from police custody this morning after posting bail.

Per TMZ,

"The 24-year-old NBA star was hanging out with a group of friends around 2AM at a restaurant called 6AM, which is connected to a hookah bar. "

"Cops say they were called in response to a fight and when they arrived Schroder and his crew were trying to leave."

"Cops found surveillance video which show Schroder and his friends in a "verbal heated exchange" with another man. But things escalated when Schroder threw the first shove -- triggering his friends to basically jump the guy."

The Atlanta Hawks have issued a statement saying,

"We are aware of an incident involving Dennis Schröder earlier this morning."

"We are still gathering information as it pertains to the situation, and out of respect for the legal process, we will have no further comment at this time."

In his first season as a starter last season, Dennis Schroder averaged 17.9 points and 6.3 assists in 79 games for the Hawks. Last October, they signed Schroder to a four-year $70 million contract extension.

The team traded Dwight Howard to the Charlotte Hornets this off-season and let restricted free agent Tim Hardaway Jr. sign with the New York Knicks. Their current starting lineup is looking like Dennis Schroder, Kent Bazemore, Taurean Prince, Ersan Ilyasova, and Dewayne Dedmon.

Needless to say, the Hawks are currently projected to have one of the lowest win totals of all 30 NBA teams next season, with 27.5 wins pegged as their over/under.

Atlanta will kick off the 2017 NBA regular season on Wednesday, October 18th with a road game against the Dallas Mavericks. The Hawks will start the season with five straight road games before their home opener against the Denver Nuggets on Friday, October 27th.
