The Boston Celtics are the hottest team in the NBA right, winners of 14 straight, including last night's victory over the defending champion Golden State Warriors at the TD Garden. The Celtics are sitting at 14-2 on the season, an NBA-best, and they're doing it all without All-Star forward Gordon Hayward.
We're still not even a quarter of the way through the season, but last night's showdown between the Celtics and Warriors already has people dreaming about a potential NBA Finals matchup between the two squads.
After Boston's 92-88 victory, Steph Curry admitted that it's "very, very likely" that the Warriors will be back in Boston come June.
"Very, very likely, right?," Curry said, per NBA.com. "They’re playing the best right now in the East. Obviously, until they beat Cleveland, who has done it three years in a row, we’ll see. I hear the weather's great [in Boston] in June, so we'll see."
Boston's defense has been outstanding this season and they showed up big last night, limiting Curry to just nine points on 3 of 14 from the field. As a whole, Boston held Golden State to just 88 points, which is by far their lowest point total of the season
While the Celtics have surged since losing their first two games of the season, the reigning Eastern Conference champion Cleveland Cavaliers have struggled to remain above .500. The Cavs are currently 8-7, though they're also playing without Tristan Thompson at the moment and they've yet to see Isaiah Thomas take the court in a Cavs uni.
The Celtics will look to push their win streak to 15 games tomorrow night in Atlanta when they take on the 3-12 Hawks.
