Nicki Minaj’s every move makes headlines. When she was announced as the fourth judge on American Idol it grabbed everyone’s attention, and when rumors of her and Mariah Carey having a fallout on set leaked it was news. After video surfaced of Nicki tearing into Mariah on the set, it made headlines. Now, on her reality show on E!, “My Truth”, the YMCMB artist explains that she was only reacting to Mariah throwing verbal jabs earlier. She also addresses her disappointment in how Barbara Walters reported the news, and implied that Nicki made mention of a gun.
Speaking to Young Money president, Mack Maine,
Nicki defends her actions and says that Mariah did not want another female on
the judges panel of American Idol. Nicki
explains, (from MTV), “20 minutes before that happened,
she egged me on and I walked off — I stormed off the stage because didn't wanna
do that. So I left and when I came back it
was another jab."
She felt Mariah was openly harping on her because she did not want to share the
spotlight with another female on the show, “"She's admitted that she did
not want another female doing the show, thinking somebody's coming to steal her
shine," Nick added. "And nitpicking, nitpicking, nitpicking — I don't
do well with that passive aggress sh--. I'm not gonna allow it no more.”
Barbara Walters had reported that Nicki even threatened to use a gun on Mariah, and when the Barbz leader found out she expressed her disappointment. "I really felt good when I left yesterday and then I hear that Mariah went to Barbara Walters with some more fabrication that even the producers told her was never said," which Minaj strongly denies, "Telling Barbara I said something about a gun, which everybody knows that I'm way smarter than that. Literally my jaw was just hanging open and I was in shock. I've never in my life said anything regarding a gun."
Talking about how Walters reported the incident, Nicki is upset that her side of the story wasn’t told, saying, "Am I not good enough for you to get my side, because I'm a little black girl that raps?” Nicki adds, “you wasn't even there when I was on the show Barbara. So I guess I'm not good enough but I'm only good enough for you to tell people I'm 'unpredictable,' when you don't f-----g know me?"
