Paul Pierce gets to the truth on his infamous 2008 NBA Finals wheelchair game.

Paul Pierce has been a part of many iconic moments in the NBA. The former Celtics star earned his nickname "The Truth" from being exactly that on the court. When it came to winning time in Boston, Pierce was a part of the action. In 2008, Pierce helped lead the Celtics to the NBA championship. Along with Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, the Celtics were back on top of the world. However, there was a scary moment for Pierce during that Finals series. Pierce went down in Game One of the series with what looked like a serious leg injury. But as time went on, the rumors quickly spread about what actually was wrong with Pierce.

"I sprained my knee. I didn't ask for no wheelchair... I created something that's gonna live forever... Only sh*tting I did was on the Lakers!" On a recent episode of I AM ATHLETE, Pierce disposed of the rumors that his wheelchair trip to the locker room was a trip to the bathroom. It has become an urban legend that Pierce's Game One injury was actually a bathroom break. However, Pierce said he actually sprained his knee in the game. But didn't ask for the team to bring a wheelchair.

Paul Pierce Sets The Record Straight

Brandon Marshall, LeSean Mccoy, and DeSean Jackson seemed to have a little fun with Pierce during the segment. The story is hard not to laugh at. Pierce highlighted a very important part of the myth. It wouldn't make sense for anyone to take the slowest route if they were in need of an emergency bathroom situation. However, Pierce was doing the laugh at the end of the series. The 2008 NBA Finals reignited the greatest feud in league history with the Celtics and Lakers.

So the story can finally be put to bed. Paul Pierce didn't need the wheelchair, and he wasn't trying to use the bathroom. But I'm not so sure that Pierce's telling of the story will matter. As the story has been told for so long that many will not change their opinions on the matter. So, what do you believe? Was Pierce actually dealing with a painful injury? Or was he really trying to save his white shorts from going brown? Sound off in the comment section with your thoughts on the story. For the latest NBA News, keep it right here at HNHH.
