Jimmy Garoppolo is a quarterback who has been through a lot over these past couple of years. Garoppolo first got his start with the New England Patriots, where he was the backup to Tom Brady. However, after some solid starts, Garoppolo went to the San Francisco 49ers where he become the starter. Overall, Jimmy G was very solid as a member of the San Francisco 49ers. He even brought them to a Super Bowl back in 2020. Although, many felt like he was a bit of a dead end for that team, and he wasn't the QB of the future.
At the start of this past season, Garoppolo was subsequently placed on the bench in favor of Trey Lance. Eventually, Lance got injured and Garoppolo had to come back in. For a large chunk of the season, Jimmy G was great, until he got injured and replaced by Brock Purdy. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Garoppolo has found just that. Today, he signed a massive three-year deal with the Las Vegas Raiders. This contract is worth $67.5 million and $34 million of that will be guaranteed. Now, the team is going from Derek Carr, to Jimmy G. Depending on who you ask, this is going to be seen as a downgrade. However, Garoppolo has actually won in the playoffs, which will separate him. No matter what the Raiders did at quarterback, it was going to be hard for them to compete in the AFC West.
