Gates riffs on Joan Osborne's "What If God Was One Of Us" on his new track.

Though he was scheduled to be released March 24th, Kevin Gates is still behind bars after being transferred to Cook County in Illinois. Gates was previously serving time for a 2015 incident in which he kicked a female fan at a show in Lakeland, Florida. The Baton Rouge rapper was transferred due to a warrant for a felony weapons charge in Illinois.

Despite being locked up, a new track from Kevin has surfaced track today titled "What If." Within the opening seconds of the track, Gates' hook is immediately reminiscent of Joan Osborne's "What If God Was One Of Us," which he interpolates throughout his melodic chorus.

Gates released "Drive," a collaboration with BreadWinners artist OG Boobie Black last October.

Quotable Lyrics:
What if God is one of us
Just a thug like one of us
Getting in out the mud like one of us
Making calls to the plug like one of us
