St. Louis riser/Soulection affiliate Smino has been doing numbers on Soundcloud. His track “Kolors” recently passed the one million plays mark. He celebrates by releasing a new track called "Menu."
"Menu" isn't actually about food -- it should be read Me N U (a la Jeremih's "oui."). Produced by Monte Booker (with additional production from Mick Jenkins collaborator THEMpeople, the track features the sort of clattering, real-world percussive sounds as Smino and Booker's "Raw." This redefinition of the traditional rap/R&B soundscape makes Smino quite refreshing on the ears. With his Soulection connections and a European tour on the horizon, Smino is definitely someone you'll want to keep your eye on.
